21 Dec Carson Barker Commits to Genesee Community College
The Central Ontario Reds are proud to announce 18U player Carson Barker has committed to Genesee Community College in Batavia, New York to continue his education and play Baseball for Coach Sherman and the Cougars next Fall.
Carson is the first ever Central Ontario Reds player to commit to a school to play baseball in the US and is the second ever College commitment from the Reds following teammate Chris Ross who has committed to play at Laurentian University in Sudbury, Ontario. Carson Plans on studying Business/ Sports Management while at Genesee C.C.
Carson is in his second season with the Reds and has played an instrumental roll over the course of the last two seasons. Carson was the Reds 16U and 18U every day third baseman; he also hit clean up for the duration of his time with the Reds.
Carson is joining a great team and coach in Skip Sherman. Coach Sherman looks to continue the success of a program that has won a combined 40 or more games in three out of the last four seasons. He has also had over 40 student athletes continue on after GCC, receiving baseball scholarships from division I, II and III colleges, and five players drafted by Major League Baseball teams in the past six years.
We would like to formally congratulate Carson and his family on this achievement, and would like to thank Skip Sherman and Genesee C.C. for their support of the Central Ontario Reds. We have seen Carson develop a multitude of baseball skills that will carry him through the rest of his career and in turn has helped develop him as a person.
Fantastic work Carson!
