2020 was a year unlike any other, a global pandemic, a lockdown for two and a half months, and uncertainty to what the summer would hold. The Central Ontario Reds were committed to giving the 12U, 13U & 14U teams a season they deserved.   While other organizations struggled to find a way to make sports possible, The Central Ontario Reds worked tirelessly with our local MPP, Honourable Jim Wilson, to ensure that The Reds and other members of the Fergie Jenkins League (FJSL) were able to have a 2020 season. With many letters, phone calls, and conversations, The Reds were finally granted permission from local levels of government, and shortly after the provincial government stated that a season was possible. The Reds want to thank Mr. Wilson for all of his work and his unwavering support of the Central Ontario Reds Teams and Organization.   In order to have The Reds season continue, strict guidelines implemented from the FJSL, labelled the FJSL COVID-19 Operational Plan, in which The Reds had a key role in helping to develop. To keep the health and safety of all teams and coaches a priority, spectators were minimized to two immediate family members. The operational plan stated practice/playing guidelines, coaching responsibilities, umpire modification, and gameplay guidelines. A new “bubble” play was introduced. Bubbles were 3-4 teams out of the original loop, who played against each other for the whole season. Using the bubble format, the Central Ontario Reds teams were able to play their season.   A normal season for the Central Ontario Reds would see each team play between 26-30 games, The Reds are happy to announce that all teams did get their whole season in, with the 12U, 13U and 14U teams all playing between 26-30 games each! They were also able to practice from June until September!   After a season that many thought would not happen, the majority of Reds players have returned to continue with the 12U 13U and 14U 2020-2021 teams, and the Reds welcome some new players to these teams as well the newly formed 11U team. A few players have gone on to play for teams in the PBLO and CPBL. The Central Ontario Reds wish these players much success in their new and future endeavours.   The Reds started training for the 2020-2021 season in November with Indoor Winter training. Each team was able to finish the first section of all Winter training requirements. The Central Ontario Reds are looking forward to what 2021 has to offer our organization, the FJSL, and all the players, parents and family members!   Let’s Play Ball! ...

Joel is our 13U Player of the Week. On Saturday he pitched during game 2, with 4 strong innings, giving up 3 runs, 5 hits and 2 strikeouts. He also had a three up three down inning. Joel also helped out the offence with a timely single. Congratulations Joel!...

William Hillyard is the player of the week for the 12U Central Ontario Reds. William batted 2 for 4 scoring 2 runs and getting one RBI.  Williams most impressive part of the weekend was his pitching, going 3 an 2/3 innings, striking out the side twice and getting 8 strikeouts total  while letting up only 3 runs. Great job William!...

12U Player of the week is Blake Da Silva. Blake had a great couple of games this weekend he played solid defense, topped off by starting a run down play when the ball got hit back to him while he was pitching. The player on 3rd got too far off 3rd base, so Blake immediately ran at him, freezing him in his tracks, we got the player out in two throws. As well, in-game two Blake went 3 for 3 scoring 3 time and batting in 2. Blake was personally involved in 5 of our 13 runs, and he was instrumental in our victory. Great job, Blake!...

Austin had a very good weekend scoring two runs, playing solid defence and pitching extremely well against the Tri-City Giants. Austin topped off his weekend, hitting a bomb to deep center field over a 16-foot fence for the first home run of the season for the 19/20 12Us.  Well done Austin....
